Eyeplex is a 150-capsule whole-food formula for ocular health and normal eye function. Standard Process introduced it in 1957, and built it as a combination rather than a single-nutrient product: key ingredients from six of their classics — Cataplex A-C, Cataplex B2, Cyruta, Ostrophin PMG, Phosfood Liquid and Oculotrophin PMG — in one capsule.

How Eyeplex Works

Standard Process has made whole-food supplements since 1929, and the philosophy explains the formula. Their founder, Dr Royal Lee, held that nutrients work as they occur in food, surrounded by the cofactors that came with them — so rather than assembling isolates they grow ingredients on their own certified organic farm. Eyeplex applies that to the eye. It combines eye tissue extract with the B vitamins and vitamin A the visual system runs on, buckwheat for the small vessels feeding the retina, and glandular concentrates from the organs backing the eye indirectly. The aim is what Standard Process calls a trophic effect: feeding tissue rather than driving it.

Key Ingredients

Seven listed nutrients plus a proprietary whole-food blend of more than thirty ingredients.

• Porcine eye PMG extract — the heart of the formula. PMG stands for Protomorphogen, Standard Process’s own extraction technology, and it delivers a profile of nucleotides and peptides drawn from eye tissue itself.
• Riboflavin and niacin — Eyeplex is an excellent source of both. They’re the B vitamins the visual system draws on most heavily in its energy pathways.
• Vitamin A and vitamin B6 — a good source of each. Vitamin A is the antioxidant end and the raw material for the pigment cycle that makes low-light vision possible.
• Organic buckwheat, juice powder and flour — the Cyruta component, traditionally used for the small blood vessels. The retina depends on microcirculation more than almost any other tissue.
• Veal bone PMG extract with bovine liver, adrenal and kidney — the glandular layer, plus organic carrot, sweet potato, alfalfa, shiitake and reishi from their own farm.
