HistaHarmony DAO Enzyme
$71.00
Wine, aged cheese, last night’s leftovers — do they leave you flushed and foggy? HistaHarmony delivers the DAO enzyme your gut uses to break down histamine from food.
Out of stock
HistaHarmony is a delayed-release DAO enzyme supplement from Healthy Gut, made to support the healthy degradation of food-derived histamine in your gut. Each box holds 60 enteric-coated tablets, and every one carries 30,000 Histamine Degrading Units of ProDAOX™ diamine oxidase.
How HistaHarmony Works
Diamine oxidase (DAO) is a brush-border enzyme: it sits on the lining of your small intestine and dismantles histamine from food as it passes. When there isn’t enough DAO on duty, that histamine crosses into your bloodstream instead. Think of it as a bucket — the fuller your load already is, the smaller the meal it takes to tip you over. DAO is fragile, though, and stomach acid destroys it before it ever arrives. HistaHarmony answers that with an enteric-coated tablet built not to open until it has cleared the stomach, each nitrogen-sealed in its own blister pack.
Key Ingredients
One active enzyme; everything else exists to deliver it intact.
- ProDAOX™ diamine oxidase (porcine kidney extract, 4.2 mg) — the only active ingredient, standardised to 30,000 Histamine Degrading Units (HDU) per tablet. Porcine kidney is the source closest to the DAO your own gut makes.
- Other ingredients — microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, ethylcellulose, potato starch, sodium alginate, magnesium salts of fatty acids, medium chain triglycerides, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, oleic acid and stearic acid.
- No added — milk, egg, fish, shellfish, soy, wheat, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, yeast, rice, artificial colours or flavours. Made in a facility that handles these allergens.
Who It’s For
This one is for you if high-histamine foods reliably leave you feeling off — aged cheese, wine, fish, avocado or last night’s leftovers. It also suits anyone already eating low-histamine who wants a bit more room at the table. It isn’t for you if you avoid pork or animal-derived ingredients.
Suggested Use
Take one tablet, swallowed whole, about 20 minutes before a histamine-rich meal. You can also take one on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes away from food. Don’t crush or chew it — the coating is what carries the enzyme past your stomach. Give it a fair run: depending on your histamine load, a change can take days to weeks. Store cool and dry, and take as directed by your healthcare practitioner.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is DAO, and why would I be short of it?
DAO is the enzyme your small intestine uses to break down histamine from food. How much you have varies, and gut inflammation or variants in the AOC1/ABP1 genes can leave you with less than a meal demands.
What if I don’t notice a difference?
Try changing the timing before you give up on it. If you’ve been taking a tablet with meals, take one on an empty stomach instead — before bed, for instance, if evenings are when you tend to react.
Do I still need a low-histamine diet?
The two work well together: the diet lowers what goes into the bucket, DAO helps clear what does. For the background on why histamine builds up, read Histamine Intolerance and Allergies — What Is Actually Going On?
